GroundProbe
Software that helps engineers decide whether to evacuate a mine.
Impact
Defined the next-generation experience for a mission-critical mining platform used to detect structural movement and inform life-or-death safety decisions.
Context
GroundProbe’s MonitorIQ platform uses radar technology to detect movement in open-cut mine walls — sometimes as little as 0.1 millimetres — enabling engineers to assess structural risk and determine whether operations should continue or be evacuated. Despite the importance of the system, the application had been built in the mid-2000s and no longer reflected modern engineering workflows.
Direction
Through a focused discovery program, we reviewed existing workflows, identified usability barriers and established a clearer product direction for engineers analysing risk in real time. In parallel, we developed a robust visual design system to modernise the interface and create a scalable foundation for future GroundProbe applications.
Outcome
The work established a strategic blueprint for the next generation of MonitorIQ — a safer, more intuitive product experience designed to match the precision and critical importance of the technology behind it.
